Porn hijacks the brain’s reward system, flooding it with dopamine and creating a cycle of craving, consumption, and shame.⁠
⁠
It promises satisfaction but leaves viewers feeling empty. It rewires the way we see people, relationships, and even ourselves.⁠
⁠
But here’s the truth: there’s nothing real about porn.⁠
⁠
It's actually pretty weird once you think about it.⁠
⁠
Porn is a bunch of strangers on a screen who have been edited, photoshopped, and/or surgically altered to fit an unrealistic standard of bodies. ⁠
⁠
There is nothing real about it. ⁠
⁠
The viewer doesn't even know if the actors have consented to be there or whether they are being abused. ⁠
⁠
The viewer doesn't know whether they have been drugged or why they are there. ⁠
⁠
This objectification results in us dehumanising people to the point that we don't care about their name or their story. ⁠
⁠
No, porn isn't real and we are so thankful for that fact because God has designed sex to be SO much better. ⁠
⁠
God designed sex to be full of love, laughter, conversation, joy, consent, patience, and goodness. It's not about performance, it's about intimacy. ⁠

The Bible speaks openly about sex—it’s not silent, and it’s not shameful. In fact, God designed sex with intention, giving it three key purposes:⁠

1️⃣ Babies – “Be fruitful and multiply.” (Genesis 1:28)⁠
Sex creates human life—one of the most incredible and sacred aspects of God’s design. From the very beginning, God made sex powerful, not just for pleasure, but to bring new life into the world.⁠

2️⃣ Beauty – Yes, the Bible talks about passion and desire!⁠
Ever heard of Song of Songs? It’s an entire book filled with poetic imagery about love, attraction, and intimacy. The Bible doesn’t shy away from celebrating the beauty of sex within marriage. “Your lips drop sweetness as the honeycomb, my bride; milk and honey are under your tongue.” (Song of Songs 4:11) God created sex to be full of pleasure, trust, and connection between a husband and wife.⁠

3️⃣ Bonding – “The two will become one flesh.” (Matthew 19:5-6)⁠
Sex isn’t just physical—it’s emotional, spiritual, and neurological. Science even backs this up! During sex, our bodies release hormones that bond us to our partner. God designed this so that intimacy would strengthen love, trust, and commitment within marriage.⁠

Most Christians believe sex belongs in marriage, and with everything we’ve just unpacked I’m hoping you’re starting to understand why!⁠
Marriage is more than just a security blanket for raising kids or a milestone of becoming an adult. It’s about bringing out the best in each other under God and like God. It’s the safest place for sex to be - a powerful thing that involves your whole self and can bring life into the world.⁠
It’s not that sex is a bad thing, it’s that sex is a powerful thing God has gifted us as humans and should be expressed in the safest context possible!⁠
