When Students Lead the Way Towards Real Change ✨

Last week, our team had the privilege of holding space for big, hope-filled, educating conversations at Chairo Christian College (Drouin campus) and Plenty Valley Christian College Primary (PVCC). At these events, God did what He does best!

✊🏼 Yr 9s at Chairo Drouin:

We spent the full day with Year 9 students diving deep into topics that matter:

  • What healthy, unhealthy, and abusive relationships look like,
  • How to set boundaries and be clear, kind, and assertive,
  • Understanding consent and sex in the law,
  • Exploring the impact of pornography on the heart, mind, and world,
  • and then what God has to say about all this!

But the day didn’t end there. We finished by facilitating a “Change Project” — where students reflected on everything they’d learned and asked:

What does God say about this?
How can I make a positive, God-focused change in my community, classroom, and relationships?

We wrapped up by celebrating God’s good vision for sex, and the radical hope we carry as His people. And then, God did what only He can do.

💥 A student gave her life to Jesus for the first time.
🙌 Twelve others recommitted their lives to Him.

We prayed together, encouraged them, and spoke life into what we hope will be long, deep-rooted journeys with Jesus.

And that wasn’t all.

That evening, we received this message from one of the students:

“I was at the BKT event today at school. One of my friends gave her life to Christ at the event. I love sharing the good news and teaching on hard topics — they don’t scare me.”

What an incredible response! We’re already linking her in with our Big The Big Kid peer-lead resources to help her continue sharing the gospel and holding space for honest conversations among her peers.

👧🏽 Yr 5s at Plenty Valley Christian College:

We had a rich and joy-filled session with Year 5s, celebrating that:

  • God made our bodies good,
  • There’s no shame in understanding how our reproductive systems work,
  • How to navigate puberty and stay physically, emotionally, socially, and spiritually healthy at the same time!

The students were thoughtful, curious, and deeply engaged. Puberty is such a powerful lived experience for young people. Watching them walk away with knowledge and skills to remain healthy and empowered is truly amazing.

🙏🏼 Would you pray with us?

We’re praying that these students continue to grow — not just in understanding, but in deep love for Jesus. That they would step boldly into the change they’re dreaming of, anchored in the truth of the gospel and empowered by God’s Spirit.

This is what we’re about at Big Kids’ Table: raising up a generation who walk with Jesus and bring Him into even the hardest, most important conversations.

Right now, part of our team is in Devonport, Tasmania, working with the beautiful community at Geneva Christian College. Please join us in praying their trip is abundant successful!

We’ve got more schools and churches across the state reaching out, eager to bring these workshops to their students and families. God is moving here at Big Kids’ Table, that’s for sure.

We’ve just opened bookings for Term 3 and 4, and spots are already filling fast! If you’re keen to bring our workshops to your school, parent community, or church, we’d love to hear from you. You can enquire at the links below 👇🏼

Additionally, if stories like these stir your heart, would you consider partnering with us financially?

Your generosity helps us keep showing up in schools and churches across our country — creating safe spaces for young people to meet Jesus, ask big questions, and discover His good design for their lives. Every gift, big or small, helps make conversations like these possible.

Thank you for being part of this story. Your prayers, encouragement, and support are helping shape a generation grounded in truth.

Blessings,
