What a week in Devonport, Tasmania!

Last week, the Big Kids’ Table team had the privilege of spending time in the beautiful town of Devonport, Tasmania, working with two incredible school communities: Leighland Christian College (LCC) and Devonport Christian School (DCS).

Across the week, we ran a wide range of workshops with both primary and high school students, as well as their parent communities. From conversations about puberty, consent, and healthy relationships to tackling topics like online safety and pornography exposure, we witnessed firsthand the impact of honest, hope-filled education rooted in God’s truth.

Each school brought its own unique culture and curiosity to the table, creating space for rich dialogue and reflection. We’re especially grateful to our hosts for their warm hospitality (and yes, the Novotel buffet breakfast didn’t hurt either!).

But more than anything, we saw God move.

At Leighland Christian College, 2 students in Year 10 made first-time commitments to follow Jesus, and 7 others recommitted their lives to Him.

At Devonport Christian School, the response was just as profound: among the Year 7/8 students: 8 first-time decisions and 6 recommitments, and among the Year 9/10 students: 1 first-time decision and 3 recommitments.

We’re humbled and amazed by how the Holy Spirit moved in these spaces—softening hearts, sparking curiosity, and calling students to Himself.

One powerful moment came during a recess break at DCS, when a Year 7 student approached us, deeply impacted by the statistics we shared about pornography exposure. He reflected, “If most kids are exposed by age 8 or 9, by the time they’re my age… they could be addicted. Is that right?!” We shared the good news that God always has the final word, and His grace is big enough to redeem every story, but yes unfortunately that’s correct. He walked away deeply impacted and wanting to make change.

We saw students in Grade 3 rewriting Psalm 139 with their names in it and focusing on the fact that they are deeply known and created by God as a good creation, and senior students ask for prayer to be bold and faithful in their schools and friendship groups.

And we’re not done in Tassie yet.

We’ll be back soon to partner with Geneva Christian College, and we’ve got more schools across the state reaching out to bring this message to their students and families.

Please keep us in your prayers as we prepare for workshops at:

  • Chairo Christian College (Drouin)
  • Plenty Valley Christian College Primary
  • Heathdale Christian College Werribee Primary
…and a few more exciting (and soon-to-be-announced) school communities before the term wraps up.

As we often say at Big Kids’ Table: if it’s not good, God’s not done!

We’ve just opened bookings for Term 3 and 4, and spots are already filling fast! If you’re keen to bring our workshops to your school, parent community, or church, we’d love to hear from you. You can enquire at the links below 👇🏼

Thank you for being part of our community. We’re so grateful for your support, your prayers, and your heart to see this generation thrive in truth, grace, and courage.

Remember: yes these topics come with big questions, but our God is bigger!

In grace,

Why Modern Dating Feels So Confusing (and How Christian Dating Changes It)

Modern dating often feels complicated. Not because people are doing everything wrong, but because the underlying assumptions are unclear. Many relationships today are shaped more by feelings than by intentionality. So instead of asking, “Who are we becoming?”, we often ask: Feelings matter, but they are not enough to build a relationship on. They change with the weather! The problem

What is Christian Dating? A Biblical View of Dating with Purpose

Christian dating today can feel confusing. Some people treat a first coffee like a marriage proposal. Others avoid clarity altogether and stay in a vague “just hanging out” space. Neither approach is what healthy Christian dating was meant to be. So let’s start with a simple truth: You do not need to marry someone just because you go on a
