As we wrap up our final update for the year, we can’t help but look back with gratitude and awe at what God has done through Big Kids’ Table in these last few months!
From regional Victoria to tropical Queensland, our team has had the privilege of sitting with students, families, teachers, and church communities while helping them explore God’s good design for our bodies, relationships, and sexuality. Here’s a little glimpse into the final stretch of our year:
Grade 5-6 at Chairo Leongatha
In October Alyssa and Lauren travelled down to Leongatha to spend the morning with the Grade 5–6 students at Chairo Christian School. Together, we explored God’s good design for our bodies and learnt that every part of us is made intentionally and without shame.
The students engaged with curiosity and maturity as we unpacked how babies are made, celebrated God’s creativity, and talked about the emotional, social, and physical changes of puberty. Their thoughtful reflections on caring for themselves during big seasons of change were truly encouraging.
It was a joy to partner with the passionate staff at Chairo Leongatha, who share our heart to see young people grow in confidence, knowledge, and a deeper understanding of God’s goodness.
A Full Week at Chairo Drouin
At the end of October, Georgia, Alyssa, and Joel spent a full week at Chairo Drouin in regional Victoria, working with Years 5––8. Across the week we talked about bodies, growing up, puberty, God’s wisdom for sexuality, and navigating pornography in an over-sexualised world.
Not only was the location stunning, but the community shared our heart for a strong and healthy sexual discipleship. We met with primary and secondary parents, worked closely with the school team, and saw young people respond deeply to God’s truth. Many shared things they’d never been able to voice before as the school partnered with us in with care, prayer, and support.
We’re so grateful for this ongoing partnership and are already looking forward to returning next year!
Youth Alight at Lifegate Church, Glen Waverley
For the third time, Big Kids’ Table had the privilege of working with Lifegate Church’s youth group, Youth Alight. What a spirit-filled community it is.
While the other team was in Drouin, Sam and Lauren led a Sex and God workshop that helped both young people and leaders reflect on what it means to honour Jesus in their relationships and choices. We explored sexual discipleship as a whole-of-life journey, not something that only matters during puberty.
A particular highlight was witnessing the youth leaders step up with boldness and care, embracing their role as guides for the young people entrusted to them!
A Massive Final Week at Lighthouse Christian College, Rockhampton QLD
To finish out the year, Lauren, Georgia, and Joel flew out at 5am for a huge week at Lighthouse Christian College in Rockhampton, Queensland – our final workshop week for 2025!
Across the week, we met with every year level, every staff member, and every parent group. The days were long (and the flights home even longer—we got home at 3:30am thanks to delays!), but we were blown away by the goodness of God and the openness of the community.
Staff stood shoulder-to-shoulder with us as students were equipped to navigate puberty, sexual health, culture, and growing up while placing God at the centre of it all. Even the tropical rain and storms couldn’t dampen the joy of the week. We’re already excited to return next year.
Christmas 2025
As we look back on a full and faith-filled term, we’re reminded again how deeply young people are longing for hope, truth, and a healthier story. This Christmas, we’re inviting you to help us set a bigger table so more students, families, and communities can experience the hope of the gospel and God’s good design for sexuality.
