Term 1 has come and gone already!

Term 1 has flown by, and already we’re reflecting on just how much has been packed into these past few months.

Across schools, staff rooms, parent gatherings and classrooms, we’ve had the privilege of sitting at the table with young people and the communities that surround them. The goal? Creating space for honest, thoughtful, and hope-filled conversations about sex, relationships, and faith.

Every term brings its own stories, but this one has been particularly rich. Here’s a glimpse into what Term 1 looked like at Big Kids’ Table…

Heathdale Christian College Secondary, Werribee

Across February and March this year, the Big Kids’ Table team had the privilege of spending time with the secondary students, staff, and parents at Heathdale Christian College, Werribee Campus. It was a remarkable and deeply encouraging week, marked by joy and interesting conversations.

This year is our third year partnering with the school, journeying alongside students from Grade 1 through to Year 12. We also work with parents and staff, exploring themes of sexual discipleship and the long-term formation of young people.

A HIGHLIGHT:

The week with the secondary students was filled with energy and openness. One particularly memorable experience came from ongoing conversations with a group of Year 9 students. Many of them had previously been taught that sex exists purely for procreation, without consideration of intimacy, pleasure or unity in Christ. Through thoughtful discussion, we unpacked God’s design for sex as something deeply intentional, created not only for unity and oneness within marriage, but also as a reflection of His goodness.

We explored how pleasure itself is not accidental, but purposeful, and how the bonding nature of sex points to a greater spiritual reality: that we are first created for intimacy with God, and then for meaningful connection with others as His image bearers.

For many students, this was a completely new perspective.

Later in the workshop, students were invited to write messages on sticky notes about what they wanted their peers to understand regarding pornography and its impact. Their responses revealed a strong desire to move away from culture’s of shame and secrecy, and instead foster vulnerability and unity.

When we read them out to the year level, the students cheered in response to one about Jesus being the solution for our shame.

It was a powerful and moving moment for our team, followed by several Year 9 students choosing to respond to the gospel.

It was a privilege to witness these young people stepping into a sense of ownership over their choices, their wellbeing, and the stewardship of their bodies.

Above all, we are deeply grateful to Heathdale Christian College for their ongoing commitment to the sexual discipleship of their students. Their dedication to walking alongside young people year after year, from the earliest grades through to graduation, is both inspiring and impactful. We look forward with great anticipation to the continued fruit of this work in the lives of these students.

Oxley Christian College, Chirnside Park

In late March, Georgia, Bek and Joel headed to Oxley Christian College to spend the morning with their Year 8 students. Together, we unpacked consent, dating, and what God has to say about both, with a particular focus after recess on understanding the complexities of consent within friendships and romantic relationships.

The Year 8 students were full of energy and a lot of fun to work with, and it was such a pleasure to return to Oxley for the fourth year in a row.

Thanks so much for having us, we’ll see you next year!

Why Modern Dating Feels So Confusing (and How Christian Dating Changes It)

Modern dating often feels complicated. Not because people are doing everything wrong, but because the underlying assumptions are unclear. Many relationships today are shaped more by feelings than by intentionality. So instead of asking, “Who are we becoming?”, we often ask: Feelings matter, but they are not enough to build a relationship on. They change with the weather! The problem

What is Christian Dating? A Biblical View of Dating with Purpose

Christian dating today can feel confusing. Some people treat a first coffee like a marriage proposal. Others avoid clarity altogether and stay in a vague “just hanging out” space. Neither approach is what healthy Christian dating was meant to be. So let’s start with a simple truth: You do not need to marry someone just because you go on a
